H2Region | Development of a knowledge-intensive region in hydrogen applications
The region Flanders - South of Netherlands accommodates a few important and promising players and end users (and thus markets) for hydrogen. This project aims at developing the region Flanders - South of Netherlands as a knowledge-intensive region in the field of hydrogen applications, using sustainably produced hydrogen. For this purpose, a few demonstration projects will be executed, with highlights in various provinces, and the implementation of a hydrogen filling station will be launched.
The goal of this project is to develop the hydrogen region Flanders - South of Netherlands as a authoritative region within Europe, by focusing on: clustering/ coordination of hydrogen related activities within the region on the basis of regional opportunities and European ambitions; concrete realization of a few hydrogen-fed ‘early-market’ projects as trend-setting demonstration projects with both Flemish as southern Dutch end users and technology providers; the construction of a few hydrogen filling stations with sustainable hydrogen as a base of further development of a hydrogen infrastructure; initiation of innovation projects with regional players that can be implemented in the demonstration projects; knowledge acquisition by elaborating the regional educational programme (theoretical and practical) for secondary and higher technological education and deployment of students in current projects; development of economic activities and creation of high-quality employment.
